Sautéed shrimp, peppers, onions, tasso ham gravy, pepper jack grits, spring onions $ 20. The bacon was the best in town. I’ve been making a variation of these ribs for years, and, quite frankly, they’re freaking delightful. We did take it to go because we were so satisfied from our dinner. My boyfriend had the classic guy breakfast of steak and eggs. The service was great thanks to Andy and Alex and the food was delicious. I don’t really do spicy. I definitely will be back. There were people of all attire enjoying Hall's. We were able to get the same-day reservations. I didn't realize it was #1 in Charleston until I sat down to write this review.

The steak was so incredibly tender and juicy, we were at a loss for words as our minds slipped into heaven with each bite. We try to avoid chains. We also had The Chocolate Cake for dessert. The service continues, even when you’re not at the restaurant.
We've been to the Halls downtown and this location is just as good! It was not in on our original, but after walking by, we decided a steak dinner would be the best choice for my birthday dinner. Tip your server. Just an overall amazing experience. you have people dressed up coming for brunch right after church. I haven’t been to Oak yet, and I have a feeling I probably won’t go anytime soon, either. On to our main course - I had the fish special, grouper, while my spouse had the dry ribeye, cooked as ordered and tender. Piper recommended the pepper jack creamed corn skillet as a side, one of their signature dishes, but noted it was large. Shay offered me a bite of her filet (which she’d gotten butterflied and cooked to medium well) and as soon as it touched my tongue, I knew I’d ordered the wrong thing. more.

Our server, Valerie, was super friendly and attentive and took excellent care of us all night. This was my wife and my first stop on our honeymoon and the rest of Charleston's food scene had a lot to live up to. The shrimp were plump.
For sides we got the asparagus with hollandaise and the pepper jack grits.
We almost forgot about our steak situationBut after speaking with him he returned to our table in less than five minutes with the most perfect cooked steak! The service was incredible. Our server was new but was attentive.

Now two things that I noticed from reviews...pricing and not receiving something for a special occasion. They sent my mom a hand-written thank you note, telling her how much they appreciated her coming into the restaurant on her birthday.
When we entered the restaurant, we were greeted by Mr. Hall and two other employees. ). Our waitress and waiter team, Brian and Amanda were excellent. After our meal, our server found out we were celebrating a recent engagement so the owner brought us all a glass of champagne and a piece of cake to share! We had a very relaxing meal and the food was excellent. So upon entering, it's exactly what I wanted.
The waitress was raving about the mac and cheese (she loves it. It was quite the educational experience. In comparison to other high end steak houses, the pricing was the same for better quality of food (my own option). Map updates are paused. Every time we leave, Billy is there to shake our hands, or give us a hug and thank us for coming. I can't remember out waitress's name--a beautiful young lady with a great personality. As we were leaving Mr. Hall thanked us for coming and invited us back. I can't wait to go back, next time I'm getting Shrimp and grits!
My husband got the French Toast with Applewood Bacon. We were seated upstairs and greeted by Rob, our wonderful server. It was so rich and decadent and the portions were so generous. We chose it because of this.
Somehow Hall's in Charleston goes above both. I took my mom to Halls for drinks before we went to Pantheon for the drag show, and we sat at one of the community bar tables drinking and hanging out. Generally you can find her laughing at goofy videos on YouTube, taking Instagrams of her food while at dinner with friends, or singing really bad Journey karaoke.
You may have noticed that I clarified both of my visits by saying “The first/second time I went for dinner.” This is because Halls has an amazing bar. I hate it when restaurants add too much sherry to their she-crab soup, but Halls does it right. I’ve ordered steaks at other restaurants in Charleston before—Peninsula Grill, Husk, Red Drum, 82 Queen, and Grill 225—and there’s no comparison.

The food is totally spectacular--starting with the amazing popover bread they serve, to cooked to perfection steaks and to die for bread pudding.
